ONLYOFFICE Docs v7.2 and ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors v7.2 are already among us as the latest version of this free office suite. The first refers to the basic functions of the suite that are distributed between the server and desktop applications, while the second refers to the specific applications for the desktop. Many may call this release ONLYOFFICE 7.2 for simplicity.

The first thing that those responsible for the suite have highlighted is that the management of the plugins is now easier and simpler thanks to the new administrator , which allows you to explore the available ones and install and uninstall them with a single click. On the other hand, when opening a document in read-only mode, it is possible to see the changes made by other users in real time.

ONLYOFFICE 7.2 comes with ligature support to combine multiple symbols into one, which opens the door to supporting languages like Bengali and Sinhala to make your reading more satisfying. Among the supported scripts is now also the N’Ko script, which belongs to the right-to-left languages.

Linux Mint adopts Timeshift as XApp and moves to Blueman

Another important new feature is the forms, which now support email address, phone number and complex field fields . This is in addition to the ability to use any specific symbols and set the necessary formatting, such as None, Digits, Letters, Arbitrary Mask (for phone numbers), and Regular Expression (for example, for emails).

Starting with ONLYOFFICE 7.2, users can insert and edit spreadsheets as embedded OLE objects in text documents, sheets, and slideshows . Alongside this new feature have come other usability improvements including Cut and Select All buttons on the Home tab, an updated View tab with editor settings, separate document sharing and co-author list buttons, plus of an updated navigation panel.

ONLYOFFICE 7.2 dark theme

A very interesting addition to this release is the addition of a dark mode , which apparently looks very nice and allows the suite to better fit a trend that has spread widely in home computing in the last decade. At the interface level, new languages have been added: Portuguese from Portugal, traditional and Taiwanese Chinese, Basque/Basque, Malay and Armenian.

The search function has been updated. Through the panel on the left it is possible to set detailed search options, navigate between the results and there is an option “Whole words only”. The new hotkeys support special paste options in all three applications in the suite (word processing, spreadsheets, and slideshows), which has opened the door to actions such as pasting formulas and plain text. Another interesting aspect is the support for viewing PPSX presentations.

Within spreadsheets , starting with this release , users can share a selected range link using the context menu so recipients can quickly find the data they need even in large workbooks . On the other hand, in the graphics settings, in the right panel, there is a new option to switch between rows and columns, while in the advanced settings it is possible to activate the 1904 date system, a numbering system that by default it starts on January 1, 1904.

To finish off the news, exclusive to ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors v7.2 we have vector text printing on Linux and Windows and VLC support for the Microsoft system.

ONLYOFFICE Docs v7.2 can be obtained in Deb (Debian and Ubuntu), RPM (CentOS, RHEL and derivatives), Windows, Docker container, Amazon Machine image or Alibaba Cloud image, while ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors v7.2 , which is the desktop application or suite of applications that competes with LibreOffice, it supports Linux, macOS on x86 and ARM, as well as old and modern versions of Windows. For Linux, it makes available Deb, RPM, Flatpak, Snap and AppImage packages. We leave you with two videos detailing the main novelties of this release
