Personally Firefox is My favorite web browser out of some cool browsers, after all ofcourse its open source, so personally it’s best for security and usability even most of the open source Linux distros by default use Firefox as their web browser, some Distros uses its upstream always Firefox latest version other side some distribution like Kali Linux, Debian Linux uses Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release)
- There are two Following types of Release Cycle Rapid release and Extended Support Release (ESR)
- : receives major updates every four weeks and minor updates such as crash fixes and security fixes as needed during those four weeks.
- : receives major updates on average every 42 weeks with minor updates such as crash fixes, security fixes and policy updates as needed, but at least every four weeks.
In addition to different update cycles, the ESR currently has access to additional policies that are not available on rapid release. Changing search engines etc
- What is Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) ?
Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) is based on an official release of Firefox for desktop for use by organizations who need extended support for mass deployments. Unlike other release channels, ESR are not updated with new features every six weeks. Firefox ESR is essentially a more stable and tested version of regular Firefox, They are instead supported for more than a year, updating with major security or stability fixes. ()
